Peshawar — Militants from Afghanistan side attacked a post of local peace committee (Aman Lashkar) in Landi Kotal tehsil of Khyber Agency on Sunday.

Members of the pro-government tribal militia “Aman Lashkar” in Zakhal Khel area of Landi Kotal responded with heavy firing to the attack and killed at least two suspected militants.

The clash began after the militants attacked a militia post in the Zakhakhel area in tehsil Ladi Kotal with heavy arms, according to security sources.

Local members of the militia told journalists that no one of them was harmed in the attack whereas two of the militants were killed in retaliatory firing.

The militants fled to Afghanistan while leaving the dead bodies of their companions on the spot. Later on, Aman Lashkar members recovered the dead bodies.

Khyber Agency is one of the most sensitive of the tribal areas. Since the last two year, several terrorist incidents took place in the Agency.

In September, 22-year-old lieutenant Arsalan Alam was martyred in a terrorist attack on a post in Rajgal valley.

The army recently concluded Operation Khyber IV in the Rajgal valley to effectively check and guard against” movement across the porous border in Khyber Agency.

Khyber – I and Khyber – II operations were also launched against terrorists near Pak Afghan border in the Agency by Pakistan army.
